Travis Middle School Orchestra

Travis Orchestra students will develop strong, basic music fundamentals during the course of the academic year. We start the students with exercises to develop both right and left hand skills, proper posture, and solid counting and listening skills. We apply these skills in playing by preparing music for performances to be held on school campuses and at local competitions throughout the year. Practice time outside of school is required, as this is the students' daily homework. Opportunities exist for the individual student to compete as a soloist or as part of a chamber ensemble, both of which are highly encouraged. We strive to instill a passion for music of all cultures in our students by exposing them to as broad a range of music as possible. Our goal is to create a well rounded musician individually and to build the most successful middle school orchestral ensemble that Amarillo has ever seen!
