Amarillo High School Choir
Amarillo High School has maintained a continous legacy of musical excellence since its inception. The AHS choral music department has performed numerous times at National Association for Music Education and Texas Music Education Association Conventions and consistantly earns Sweepstakes in UIL competitions. Our goals include graduated skill development in choral, vocal, and sight reading techniques. Choir students graduating from Amarillo High School leave our program with a solid foundation in vocal and ensemble techniques as well as sight reading skills.

Director Susan Hinrichs
Susan Hinrichs has been the head choral director of Amarillo High School since 1997. She was to Danny Hood for one year prior to taking the head position. She also taught at Fannin Middle School in Amarillo for 12 years, Sge graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. After a career as full time mother, she began her teaching career in 1984. She has been an active member of the Amarillo Civic Chorus. Under the direction of Dr. Steven Weber, she has served as alto soloist in Mozart's Requiem and Bach's Magnificant. She also served as alto soloist in Bach's B Minor Mass and Handel's Messiah. She is the organist at Hillside Christian Church. Ms. Hinrichs holds memberships in TMEA and TCDA. She has three adult children: Troy of Riverside, CA: J.J. of Las Vegas, NV; and Jennifer of Moscow, Russia.
